Alloway Burton Path
About 2 miles of the disused Maidens and Dunure Light Railway track bed from Maybole Road, Alloway to Dunure Road at the Burton housing estate, Doonfoot was transformed into a shared use walking and cycling path in 2010.
Sustrans is the primary organisation that distributes money from the Scottish Government's Active Travel budget. Other organisations also contribute to active travel infrastructure - typically this means a new path is mostly funded by external organisations and not the local council.

Some sections are carved into the landscape and surrounded by trees.
Other sections are raised and give views of the adjacent farmland and distant hills.
